I was able to knit this hat in one evening while watching TV. Super easy and quick project using yarn held double and the large needles. Makes a very warm hat which can be machine washed and dried. I think that the spiral stitch pattern would show up better in a solid, heather or tonal yarn. I just wanted to test the fit with some yarn that I had on hand.

Cast on 55 sts snuggly over ONE size 11 needle. Only did the spiral for 6 inches rather than the 7 inches specified in pattern. Hat fits me perfectly, but I have a large head. I crocheted a picot edge around the bottom using a single strand of yarn and size G hook like this.
