I did a provisional cast on for the 51 neckline stitches.
In this pattern, traditional wrap and turn is done for the short rows. Then on the final row, you pick up the wrapped stitches like this. You will pick up the wrap/purl together on the RS and pick up/knit together on the WS. Instead, I did German short rows which worked out just fine, picking up double stitches as usual.
I did one extra round on the collar because it looks much better if you bind off on a WS. Since most of the shawl collar is turned, the WS then becomes the RS of the turned collar. If I make this again, I might even do 3 extra rounds on the collar to make it larger and because there’s not very much overlap for the buttons and buttonholes.
This is how I bound off the lower edge (hip area):

I wanted to try this stretchy bind-off. However, I like JSSBO better because it’s more sturdy and makes the ribbing lay flatter and straighter. So I used JSSBO for the sleeve cuffs.
My stitch gauge was slightly off, so this came out more of a size 5 than a size 4. But better a little too large than too small.
Needles used:
Size 6 US - Body and sleeves except for the textured stitch portions. Also used this size for the sleeve cuff twisted ribbing. Used this size just to pick up stitches around the neckline.
Size 8 US - All textured stitch portions and also the shawl collar ribbing
