I’m just winging it again with this pullover for my sister, Janny. It’s a simple, top-down construction with a v-neck, and short ribbed sleeves. Janny likes all of her pullovers to be tunic length.
Needles used:
Size 7 US Addi - Body
Size 5 US - All ribbing (lower edge, neckband and sleeves)
Size 6 US - Neckband (next time use size 5 US)
Size 2 US - JSSBO for lower edge ribbing
This is the first time I’ve used this 5-ply yarn. I was surprised at how stretchy it is. It has no elastic fibers, so the stretch (with great memory) is all in the yarn construction. The wool helps disguise the plastic quality of the acrylic. This yarn has an amazing amount of yardage - 354 yds per ball. That’s 177 yds per 50 grams which is about what you expect from a sport weight yarn. However, due to the lofty construction, this knits up close to a worsted weight or perhaps a light worsted weight. The garment will be warm without being heavy.
Body had 214 sts around prior to lower ribbing. I increased (M1L) all around every 8th stitch prior to the ribbing so that the lower edge would not pull in. (214 + 30 sts = 244 sts total for ribbing).
Weight of finished garment: 9.5 oz.
Finished garment measurements:
Upper bust circumference - 50”
Lower bust circumference - 48”
Back length (not including neckband) - 27.5”
Side length from underarm - 20” (16” + 4” ribbing)
Armhole depth - 7.5”
V-neck depth (not including neckband) - 6.25” (7.5” to point of V)
Neckband width - .875”
Tubular 1 x 1 bind-off Video (used around the neckband)
Starting at 1:20 into the video. Allow 4 times the amount of yarn as the distance you are binding off.
