This is a very quick and easy project. Almost any yarn/gauge can be used, and the size is easily customized. The designer, Ina and I became friends because she’s an AMAZING knitter and photographer and she has the same first name as my mother.

I consider the yarn I used to be worsted weight. Note that the gauge above is my gauge. The (suggested) pattern gauge is 18 sts x 30 rows = 4” / 10 cm using a size 5 mm / 8 US needle.

Only metric measurements were given in the pattern when I made this, but you can easily convert to inches using utilities on the internet.

You will need to do some creative stitching in order to get the ends to match in appearance. So I suggest leave rather long tails on both ends to allow for some weaving and “embroidery” with a darning needle after finishing.

I had 37 picots in Section A, 15 picots in Section B (middle) and 33 picots in Section C. I’m not sure why Section A (beginning end) was about 1” (2.5 cm) longer, but nobody is going to notice. Following are the measurements of my scarf:

Section A - 21.5” (54.6 cm) - increase section

Section B - 8” (20.3 cm) - straight section

Section C - 20.5” (52 cm) - decrease section

Width in Section B - 4.75” (12 cm)

Weight of finished scarf: 2.9 oz (82.2 grams)

If I make this again, I might try it with stockinette stitch since I’m not a huge fan of garter stitch. But garter stitch does result in a cushier scarf.

I highly recommend knitting this versatile accessory piece. It’s fun, quick and the picot edge gives it a feminine touch. I’m sure I’ll be knitting more than one of these!
