This was a college graduation gift for my cousin’s daughter, Caitlin. The bolero was made from ten squares which were later sewn together. I didn’t follow the instructions exactly. I only did the first 6 rows of each square, because I used a heavier yarn and size G (6) crochet hook. Any additional rows would have made the garment too large. This bolero was my first experience crocheting anything from a chart. Again, I found all the meanings of each chart symbol on the Internet:

In a way, I actually found it easier to crochet using a chart. The project didn’t take long to complete with the heavier yarn and shortcuts that I took.

I’m modeling the bolero in these pictures. Caitlin is a little bigger than I am, so it will fit her better than it fits me.
