Believe it or not, I could not find a pattern for a simple tee shaped pullover for a soon-to-be 9-year-old girl - at least not with the shape and construction methods I desired. So I sketched out the measurements, knitted a gauge swatch and did the math myself. The nearly seamless construction started with provisional cast-on at the shoulders. It’s knitted top-down with flat knitting above the underarm and circular knitting below the underarm. Stitches were picked up at neck and sleeve edges for the 2 x 2 ribbing. The back neck is about an inch higher than the front, but there are no short rows. There were only two short seams under the arms. Easy peasy!
I love this 100% cotton yarn with it’s brightly colored speckles and interspersed splashes of color. I would not mind knitting a pullover for myself using this yarn. The yardage and looks of this yarn would lead you to believe that it’s a sport weight. But it knits up more like a DK weight due to its dense twist. I chose a sport weight yarn from Hobbii for the solid color, 100% cotton trim.
I knitted a larger size with the intention of shrinking the garment in a warm dryer before gifting. This little tee will most likely be laundered and dried by machine. It came out of the dryer wrinkle-free and looking great. I added a little bit of vinegar to the cool water during a brief soak while aggitating by hand. The color in this yarn is stamped on, so I wanted to make sure that it did not fade onto the white background. It did not fade. I turned the garment inside out before putting it into the dryer with clean, dry towels.

The Neatest Jogless Join for Wide Stripes Knit in the Round
I used this method before starting the lower, contrasting color ribbing. I knit one round of stockinette stitch in the solid, contrast color before starting 2 x 2 bottom ribbing.
