Notes

Another wonderful design and pattern from the talented designer, Aneta Szydlak-Bleyer. This is my 5th test for her. All of her designs have fabulous shoulder and other details.

Needles used:
All needles were Susan Bates brand except for the size 2.

Size 8 US - Body and sleeves except for ribbing

Size 7 US - Picking up stitches from the cable strip (upper back and front shoulders) and neckband; sleeve decrease round + first 11 rounds of cuff ribbing

Size 6 US - Lower ribbing, neckband and last half of the sleeve cuff (10 rounds + JSSBO)

Size 3 US - JSSBO for lower ribbing

Size 2 US - JSSBO on sleeve cuff only

What I did differently:

  • I used a provisional cast on at the start.

  • I did not do a tubular bind off on the ribbing because my yarn has a chain construction. I did not feel that it would hold up well for a sewn bind-off - at least when so many stitches are involved along the bottom edge. Ditto for the sleeve cuffs. I used JSSBO for both.

  • I picked up 80 sts for the sleeve and did the 12-stitch cable a total of SIX times because I have very long arms. I did my decrease of 4 sts on the last round of Chart A, in preparation for the cuff ribbing. I switched to size 7 US needles for the decrease round which was also my first round of 2 x 2 ribbing). So I had 76 sts for the sleeve cuffs. The designer was experimenting with the sleeve instructions during testing, but my sleeves are almost exactly per the final sleeve instructions (width wise). The result is an intentionally oversized sleeve and cuff. Anea said that she may add an option for a tapered sleeve at some later date after the initial pattern is released on 2-25-2025.

Weight of finished garment: 21.3 oz (603.8 grams)

Provisional cast on using crochet chain

This is like a 3-needle bind-off, but using only 2 needles.

kimmyz's star rating
kimmyz's adjectives for this yarn
  1. Beautiful, sophisticated colors suitable for any sex
  2. Tweedy look, chain construction, great stitch definition
  3. Machine wash and dry. However, if throwing this into a warm dryer, expect the sweater to shrink 2 - 3 inches in length, but only 1 inch in width.
