8/10/19 Casting on Antler with MadTosh Merino Light. In Hawaii. In August. Let the Christmas knitting begin! I decided on a provisional CO in case I want to modify the collar.

Love, LOVE Mad Tosh in any form. So soft and comforting to feel running through my fingers, and the hand of the fabric is beautiful.

8/11/19 Ready for my sleeve increases. I put a lifeline in before starting the body increases and I’m glad because I ripped back 3 times before getting it right. Using German short rows.

Purl Soho has a clear, quick tutorial on German short rows:

8/17/19 Separated the sleeves and switched to the larger needle.

I tried the contiguous method about 5 years ago and hated it because the shoulder fit seemed off. I decided it to give it another go because I liked the look of the shoulder in this pattern as well as the overall beautiful design. I’m really glad I gave it another chance--the way this pattern is written makes it easy to understand the construction. Follow the pattern exactly, even when the instructions seem counter intuitive. Once you get half way through the sleeve increases you can look at the work and it all makes sense.

9/23/19 I misread the instructions and wound up with a high low bottom instead of an equal round hem on front and back so I had to rip back the CC all the way to the MC. GRRR…finally, ready for the sleeves!

1/23/20 I finally picked this up to finish it. Although I had a lot of missteps in this one, all blame goes to the knitter, not the designer. A well-written pattern that was fun to make.
