This pile of deliciousness is about to become my latest pretty for the Fabric Bliss Solaris KAL, which kicks off tonight. We have until April 27 to finish.

I always research my projects before beginning by checking out other Ravelers for tips. Thanks to WoolTherapy for providing an explanation of what the designer means by a “set” in her instructions, and for linking to a YouTube on the Double Stitch, aka the German Short Row, which is new to me. She also has some terrific images of the shawl in different stages that helped me picture it in my head before starting.

Also helpful from Vegasdoll was this video on making 5 sts into 1.

I finished and blocked this a few days ago, and I’m very pleased with it. The pattern was a lot of fun and easy to memorize so it made for fast knitting. And of course, MadTosh is such a great yarn to work with!

Only one teensy bump in the road to Knitting Nirvana on this one: Although I knit to gauge, I ran out of the MC near the end and had to buy two unicorn tails to finish. I know at least a couple of others in our KAL group who had the same problem.
