This pair of slippers is all about love. And saying “I love you” in yarn.
My oldest son is now almost 16, and is learning away from home. He has become a monthly guest, instead of an inmate in our family zoo.
At 16 he is becoming much more civilized than he was just 2 years ago and it was a pleasure to have him here for almost a month during his Pesach vacation.
He went back to school 2 day ago and I miss him a lot.
Before he left I decided to knit him a pair of Amazing Siberian Slippers. So I asked him what two colors he wanted. The answer was - black and… black.
Grrr… I tried to sell him on other colors, but it was not what he wanted.
So I am knitting All Black Siberian Slippers.
I am his Mom and I love him.

They became my expression of love to a prickly 16 year old who is not comfortable with more avert expressions of love, but craves it none the less. So for me this is attachment parenting through knitting. And black was the only color my yeshiva bochur would accept. After all it is much easier to be an attached parent to a baby than to a teenager.
