toe decreased to 12 stitches.
when i picked out the waste yarn for the heel, I picked up 2 extra stitches to close up the holes in the corner, and ended up decreasing heel to 14 stitches

once again, I have decided that I hate afterthought heels. too bad it looks cool in stripey yarn.
