Moved this from “hibernating” to “in progress.” Will start over with smaller hook sizes to hopefully get three squares per whirl.

Crocheted part 1 with a 2.55mm Susan Bates hook and it measured 4.25.” At this point, it should only measure 3.5” so I will frog this little piece and try again with a 2.25mm hook. At least I can move back to my Clover Amore. I ordered a 2.5mm Clover from Amazon but it will take a while to arrive, thus my having to use a 2.55mm Susan Bates - blah. I think in the mean time, I’ll also order a 2.0mm Clover Amore from Amazon as well.

Rats - redid with a 2.25mm hook and part 1 still ended up at 4.25.” Not sure why….I guess I’ll have to try with a 2.0mm hook. But enough for today……

Tried a 2.0mm hook and it measured ~ 4” after part 1. At least that’s a bit closer to 3.5.” Guess I’ll use a 2.0mm for this and hope it works out. My order from Amazon for the Clover Amore 2.0mm (& 2.5mm) won’t be here for about 2 weeks so this is on hold for now. The hook I used was a double sided from KnitPicks and it was very spiltty to work with, same as with the 2.55mm Susan Bates. The Clover Amore hooks don’t split the yarn at all.

I rewound my Blueberry Bambam so I can pull from the outside beginning with the lighter color. I find that when working with the whirls, when I pull from the inside, eventually they collapse upon themselves and create a ratty, tangled mess. This Blueberry whirl weighs 222 grams.
