Notes

For two years I’ve intended to make this in November and another Christmas came and went without a Christmas cosy, so I’m getting in early and getting it done!

I did not understand the instructions in Pretty Funny Tea Cosies for the ‘holy cast-on’ so followed the very clear illustrated instructions from Tin Can Knits for Pinhole Cast On Tutorial - very good.

Knitted the start in white (because wasn’t sure if I had enough brown) and knit to 96 stitches for my 4 cup pot, the last two rows in brown before splitting for 1x1 rib.

Crocheted the brandy cream using the white doubled with a 4.5mm hook and went for an uneven ‘natural’ look, but I think even sized/spaced would have been better (followed Pink Mambo’s instructions for a perfect crochet circle in DC US, via Wayback Machine - see tissue box cover notes). Used Jean Greenhouse’s holly and berries trim for the extras (as I have the book and liked hers - both using 4.5mm needles). Also used the 5ply Hunter doubled. There was no one pattern which appealed.
