I really really liked this project. It reminded me of how much I used to love knitting socks. Why did I ever quit obsessing over and making socks, carrying them around with me everywhere that I went? I need to go back to that habit. I loved it.

I found this pattern to be very simple to follow. I changed the motifs just a smidge to put my name & nickname on the stocking, so I just pushed down the snowflake motifs a few at a time. I omitted the pattern on the toe section completely, replacing it with the teeny snowflakes. I really love the effect, and I’m so pleased with how well those two colours worked together! Like other knitters, I used this chart to put my name on it.

I kind of switched between which needles I used for this. I started with one of my short interchangeables, but it didn’t get enough flex - I really need to get one of the short-tipped 16” ones, or maybe even shorter than that, in a size 10. I eventually switched to my DPNs - the rhythm doesn’t flow as nicely, and I’ll never love doing colourwork with thicker yarns, but it made my hands feel like they were straining a lot less.
