Notes

I started this on a size 8 needle, but I didn’t care for the way the fabric was working up. It was just too big and loopy, even though I knew the brim would be doubled. So I dropped down to size 7, and that worked beautifully.

This is one of my first times knitting with fingering weight held doubled, and I really liked it! It made this really beautiful fabric, and it wasn’t difficult to work with. Every now and then, I would catch just one strand instead of both, but that was always really easily fixed. I’m excited to block this out and wear it, I’ve been wanting to cast it on for a long time.

I didn’t quite make it through 4 reps of the pattern, but that’s probably because I made the brim 6” instead of 5. For me, the great part was that really wide brim, so I wanted to emphasize it. I was a little surprised the the brim was just folded over - I thought it would be worked halfway, broken up by a purl row, and then continued. But I’m sure that I’ll love this effect as well!
