2nd shawl of the lot casted-on, with the surreal objective of knitting up 11 before the end of the year. Yeah, right!
I think I could use my 375yds Damson Zephyr leftovers for a 2nd shawlette. Why stop at just one?
:)
Here, I used a new skein first and a bigger needle, just to make sure I could meet the required yardage. And it worked. I think you can comfortably knit two Elisa shawlette with one skein of Zephyr if you use a 3.5mm needle and don’t knit too tight. I don’t know though if its feasible using a 3.25mm needle.
25/03/11: Casted on at my favorite Stitch ‘n Bitch hangout. God I love to work with Zephyr. It is so light yet so sturdy. The perfect lace yarn.
3/08/11: Pulled that project out of oblivion and knitted all the main portion in 3 days. Now, I am waiting for a 3rd skein for the border. Why? I devised that by doing this, I’ll be able to knit the main portion of Canterbury Bells with what’s left of my 2 actual skeins and use that 3rd different skein for the border of both shawls. Yeah, I maximized my yardage! Now, I’m stuck again, waiting for the skein to arrive.
18/8/11: Yarn has arrived yesterday and it took me only one sitting to tackle the border.
19/8/11: Casted-off today with yarn held doubled and Estonian stretchy bind-off from Knitted Lace of Estonia.
24/8/11: It was a bit tricky to pin out but it blocked to perfection. I will repeat myself here, but Zephyr is a charm to work with and it blocks so nicely. I’m really impressed by how the shawlette turned out. Bellissima!
