This free pattern is very easy and very pretty.

Both of these yarns are wonderful.

The cowl is constructed in the round, row sections in garter st, hence, k 1 r, p 1 r, etc. To save time and avoid purling, knit, turn, knit, turn, etc. One can close up the resultant space with a few stitches later and that area will blend right in.

For rows worked in the round, mark the join and include all yarns in the last st of every row. There’s no need to break yarn after each section. That one stitch will be imperceptible as well.

Adapted this pattern for substituted yarns. Knit the fingering yarn along with the bulky one, holding the fingering double for rows that don’t include the bulky. The bulky yarn is somewhat slippery, so the fingering yarn adds desirable texture.

I worked the cast on for size M with 8 st dec at half way point and another 8 st dec at 3/4 point. Dimensions are those of size M because I was over guage.

Since the yarn is navy, it’s hard to see how pretty it is.
