Notes

This is a very easy pattern. One does need to keep careful track of rows stitched with the bulky yarn. It’s hard to see individual rows.

This Sand Dune color would look very nice coordinated with a solid green worsted. It has taupes, grays and greens.

There’s enough yarn to increase the circumference a bit. If I made this again as a single cowl, I’d cast on 24 more. Directions state to cast on 120. I’d use 144. I think that little extra length would be welcomed by anyone.

It’s imperative to cast on / off very loosely. One could cast on the worsted yarn with the larger needle and then change to the smaller needles for the 1 x 1 ribbed rows. At the end, the JSSBO cast off method works wonders. JSSBO = Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off, whose directions can be found online. ‘Jeny’ is the incomparable Jeny Staiman.

Tip:
It can be tricky to join the cast on row without twisting it, so work two rows flat in the 1 x 1 rib, then join. The first unjoined rows can be stitched up later with the yarn tail.

Tip:
It’s easier to work the kfb increase row after the bulky section if you take a moment and transfer all stitches to the smaller needles. Then proceed with the worsted section.

Tip:
It’s fine to work both yarns tog for the last st of ea row in order to carry the yarn not being worked. The resultant vertical line is not apparent when worn.

Modification:
To use nearly all of the yarns;
work few more rows in the solid sections.
I worked 5 rows of the bulky per section vs four as written.

Since I didn’t know how things would come out, I worked an extra stripe section when I got there and saw I had enough.
