Notes

Almost life size.
Grandson is very interested in this salamander because it is the biggest one in the US. We compromised because I could not agree to make the Chinese Giant Salamander, which is enormous.

The Cryptobranchus or Hellbender is an aquatic giant salamander endemic to the eastern and central United States.
It is the largest salamander in North America.
Other related salamanders are the Japanese and Chinese giant salamanders.
The hellbender is much larger than any other salamander in the US.
It is predator and prey for 65 million years.
The species is Vulnerable due to the impacts of disease and habitat loss across its range.
