Notes

This is one of the prettiest scarves I’ve ever made.

All designs by the incomparable Ms. Cassie Castillo are stunning. Love the beautiful leaf motif in this one. The simple 2 st garter st side edges add to the daintiness.

I’ve had this special yarn for quite a while. I was lucky to get it at a discount some time ago. It creates a lovely, delicate lace. The beads frame the beautiful motifs.

Had been looking forward to making this design for a long time.

Worked the first half each thru r 19 of the body chart.
Worked the second half thru row 17.
Grafted the two halves together, RS facing, so the grafted stitches became the common ‘purl’ row.
Very happy with how the graft row turned out.

Survive THE GRAFT!!!
Anne Hanson has a superb (free) class dedicated to grafting:

Charts:
I’m not a chart person but I can handle the charts Ms. Cassie has provided.
The graphs and symbols are larger than what’s usually seen in a pattern, thus, easy to follow. She has included the WS rows, all purled, on the charts. This keeps the RS symbols from being too dense. Appreciate that very much.

Gauge:
Designer states that she is a loose gauge knitter.
I am as well. Surprisingly, I needed to use needles much bigger than the designer. With design needles US 5, I had 24 st / 4”. I have a beautiful swatch with US 8 needles.

Width:
CO 65.
Worked 5 rpts of motif for a wider scarf.
If I make this again, I’ll work 7 motifs.

Markers:
I highly recommend stitch markers for lace motifs, however, yo’s next to regular markers move about.
Solution:
Make your own markers, knotted loops, from small segments of any smooth dk or sport wt yarn or crochet cotton. The yo’s stay on the intended side of the yarn loop marker.

Beads:
-beaded the yo’s as they appeared when working the WS.
-beaded the k2tog stitch of the sl1, k2tog, psso stitch, RS. Situated that bead upon working the stitch.
Used nearly all of four tubes of beads: about 2,700.
It’s still very light and airy.
