Notes

Held 2 str tog: one ea yarn.
Wanted those two together for the texture and warmth.
CO 96 + 2 edge st, worked flat for button closure.

Elected to cast on the actual number of worked stitches of the main section. The pattern, top down, has a cast on of half the number of worked stitches. (The pattern as written doubles the stitch count after the cast on row.)

Elected to work JSSBO for both edges of this project.
JSSBO is Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind-off, an ingenious method created by the incomparable Ms. Jeny Staiman.

To do this, I pulled out many yards for the bind off of the first edge. Worked provisional cast on, loosely. Worked 1x1 ribbing as written. Went back and bound off the beginning edge with JSSBO. Proceeded with main section, second 1x1 ribbing and final bind off, again, JSSBO.

The cast on and bind off in the pattern was a bit complicated for me, right now.

Helpful tip
In the round:
RS is facing and most stitches are purled, including two ‘purl one below’. You can just as easily work with WS facing, switching the purl stitches as written to knit stitches…

If worked flat:
WS r 1: switch out the knit stitches for purls and vice versa for the purls.
RS r 2: work as written.

The Baroque rib is a 6 st repeat. If stitch numbers need to be adjusted, do so in groups of six. Preplan. (You’d adjust cast on number in groups of three, since the cast on is half the worked number.)
