Notes

A beautiful shawl chosen by friend, who got married May, 2019 sylvabelle.

Very exciting project!
Made the seven leaf style.
I cannot begin to fathom how the designer worked out this shawl. It is a design marvel.
The pattern is written very clearly and is thorough.
I appreciate the directions written out, although very good charts are provided. I elected to omit the crochet edge and work a knitted stretchy bindoff.

I’m a marker person.
Markers , markers, markers!
For chart C, row 45 B, one must move the marker after making the k3tog right after the asterisk.
For chart C, row 51 B, one must borrow a loop from left of each marker to complete the set.

Used a beautiful linen yarn.

Used size 8/0 beads from Beaded Iris, Albuquerque, NM.
~ 35 beads / g x 30 g / tube = 1100 beads.
~ 1,000 beads / tube x 4 tubes = 4,000 beads!

Note:
This shawl doesn’t have beading included.
One can easily bead it as desired.
If one wants beads at the yo’s, place them when you come to the yo on the purl row. The flower motif will be more prominent that way.

One can place beads on the RS if placing them within the flower motif.

I have a good system for beading and every time I do chart C, it goes more and more quickly. Placed a bead at every yo and 5 in the ‘3 into 11’ st.

If I were to make this design again, I would place the beads on the yo’s from the WS.

The Blooming Stitches design uses the ‘water lily’ motif, a staple in the Estonian lace tradition. Many similar, beautiful motifs and edgings can be found in

Guage is not given, nor dimensions for the flower motif.
I wish some info about that were given.
I am an over-guage knitter, so I elected to go down one needle size. Linen yarn usually lends itself to a slightly smaller needle as well, compared to various wool yarns.

Linen is less pliable off the skein, but softens up and drapes beautifully upon washing.

Chart A: completed Nov 4
(Chart C is worked 8 x.)
Chart B, C completed Nov 10.
At a stopping point to work on a couple other projects.
Focusing on this project as of Jan 26 until it is done.

The first few repeats of chart C can be done in one evening.
As the shawl progresses, about two evenings each.

Chart C: 8 x + one extra set, completed Feb 18.
Chart D: completed Feb 21.
Bindoff: JSSBO = Jeni’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off!!
Feb 22 ~ 550 stitches!!!
Yay!
I was concerned the billion beads would make it feel heavy, but, thankfully, it’s light and airy.
It’s very pretty and I’m very happy with it.
So is Sylvie!

Sylvie’s color preferences:
neutrals, pinks, grays, black.
