Notes

A fabulous KAL!
Knitted like crazy to finish a previous project so I could join knitters in Mary-Ann Lammers group for this stupendous event!
Perfect yarn!

Every section is very clearly written and charted as well. Thorough stitch glossary.

Part 1:
Started with US 7 as written, which yielded correct guage st st, but fabric was too dense and scarf was too narrow.
Started over with US 8. Patt guage still too dense and scarf 6” wide, too narrow.
CO 34 with US 9, also too narrow.
CO 43 and worked 4 cables to achieve the desired width.
Six rpts done and ready for part 2!

Part 2:
Increased one stitch (44) and worked mirrored 4 st cables on both sides of written pattern.

Part 3:
Worked 44 stitches.
Inserted decorative motif adapted from:
Schachenmayr Magazin 012 - Everyday Moments by Schachenmayr Design Team
Booklet published in 2016
Women’s Sweater S9460, chart C.

Butterfly motif, adapted by
Candace Eisner Strick
available in
#21 Lace Shawl
Vogue Knitting, Fall 2011
The industrious Ms. Eisner Strick translated this motif from a German knit book.

In a class by said designer that I attended at Stitches Texas, 2016, she described it as ‘an unusually beautiful stitch’.

Picking up this project again.
Set it aside for a while to make other projects.
Trying to take care of stragalong projects.

Part 4:
Working 44 st with 30 st patt centered.
Like the others, this section is very beautiful.
With only two stitches in each cable step, it’s easy to work them without a cable needle.

Part 5:
This section is very pretty as well.
I have no idea how the designer came up with this section or the others, either. Not easy.
The rows are kind of busy to execute, but the end result is worth it. Again, one can work the cables without a cable needle.

Finished with crochet edge button closure.

After washing, stitches relaxed a bit and garment was slightly wider and longer.

Love it!
Thanks Ms. Solène!
A very nice gift!
