Notes

This pattern is a genius way to fashion a lacey and a bulky yarn together. Looks haunted, beautiful and fancy!

This design is versatile. Can be worn as a scarf or over-the- head cowl / hood.

The Sherpa yarn is very unique and the pictures don’t do it justice.

I cast on 50 st, vs 42 as directed in pattern, yarn double stranded cast on row only, with US 19 15.0 mm needle, then switched to US 17 12.0 mm for the cowl. Pattern called for US 17 12.75mm. I didn’t have one of those.

This is one project where knowing the continental knit st is very useful. Doing so enables easier management of the big needles with the fine yarn compared to English style knitting.

The bulky yarn is carried up loosely and continuously from row to row when not in use with the lacey yarn. I knitted it in along with the first st of every row. Didn’t need a marker then. It’s a little bulkier that way, but I think it’s pretty and decorative. This is an amazing, atypical design, so why not?

Cast off: used JSSBO, Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off, which I learned making Sarah Punderson One Piece Vest.

Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind-off is an easy must-know bind off method complements of the wonderful Jeny Staiman.

After hand washing, both yarns remained colorfast and size/ shape was unchanged. Because of the lace yarn, it looks delicate, but it is a strong fabric.
