Notes

A very easy, fun and quick project! Thanks, Ms. Vickie!

The lovely Ms. Vickie Howell has a great online teaching video for this project:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2XX_u_KW08&feature=y...

When working numerous yarns together as one, work them directly from their skeins, as seen in the video, rather than combining the yarns together in advance and working from one big ball.

Worked 2str Cobbles, 2 str Homespun, 1 str Metallic and 1 str Haute Fur altogether. The Woolease Metallic adds sparkle for a nice touch. The eyelash yarn has adds an extra element of fun as well. Upon hand washing, cowl kept its shape, while draped a bit more, which was nice.

I elected to knit this project fashioning two paper towel cardboard tubes as knitting needles: 40 mm. I bent in one end each. There aren’t that many stitches, so they won’t slide off the other end, plus, the cardboard keeps stitches from slipping. One could use wood dowels or garden tool handles as well. Broom handles…

When I arm knitted this project, the guage was a bit bigger than I wanted when passing the loops back over my hands. The cardboard tubes yielded just the right size.

Provisional cast on for invisible join at the end. Knit every row for garter st. For pretty side edge finishes, slip the first stitch of every row purlwise and purl the last st of each WS row. Contrary to arm knitting, this work is turned, traditional.

If you are arm knitting, you’re working each row from the front, RS facing always. Slip the first st, as above, and simply knit the last st ea row, while being consistent with the middle stitches- maintaining st st or garter.

Done in under 2 hrs! Fabulous! A quick, great gift!
