Notes

This lace pattern is very pretty. It looks like rows of hearts. This is a wonderful design and very good directions.

This yarn is very pretty. Coloring is like cotton candy or sherbet. Inexpensive, but looks expensive. Upon machine washing, yarn is colorfast, with no excess dye in wash water. Skeins are dyed very consistently. Ea sk starts with the same color, so striping is symmetric. In 4 sk, only one knot, and it was near the beg, so no problem.

This cowl works up very quickly. There’s a predictable rhythm to the pattern.

I’ve made it before, and might have stitched it all up in one evening, but I twisted my rows when joining. I had checked, but, oh well…

Tip:
Knit a ‘ row 0 ‘ straight across after the cast on row for a bit more stability on that edge, then proceed with r 1.

I used US 17 12.75 mm needles for cast on and cast off rows only, so those edges wouldn’t be too taught. I used US 17 12.0 mm for the main cowl.

My guage was quite a bit bigger than patt and going down a needle size isn’t really an option. To compensate, I cast on 110 st and worked p3 at end of every row (vs p2, as written). I worked 5 patt sets in ea row (vs 6, as written). The final dimensions match the intended size that way.

Cowl did not shrink or stretch out after washing and became more drapey, which made it even more lovely.
