Notes

This is a very easy and quick project from the yarn wrapper of Big Twist Natural Blend yarn at Joann Fabrics and Crafts.

This Wool-Ease Thick and Quick Metallic is a very pretty yarn. The shimmery thread thru out really adds a nice touch to the project.

I didn’t keep track of rows, so I simply have the regular Shaker Rib. I only had two sk of yarn, so my dimensions are different than the pattern. This is the third scarf I’ve made with this pattern. I worked flat and elected to work RS two st patt as: p1 below, k1 below. This made a slightly thicker and denser fabric.

Cast on 73 very loosely, do not join.
RS = r 1 and all odd rows = knit.
WS = even rows.
r 2, 4, 6=
k1, • p1, k1 below. Rep from • to last 2 st. P1, k1.
r 8, 10, 12 =
k1, • k1 below, p1. Rep from • to last two st. K1 below, k1.

Rows 1 - 12 = Broken Shaker Rib pattern.
Cont in patt to ~ 19”, ending on 6th or 12th row. Cast off very loosely. Sew side edges.

Note:
This pattern can be done in the round. RS facing at all times. Cast on an even number of st. Join without twisting and mark the join. Purl all odd rows. Omit first k1 of instructions above and work 2 st pattern all around. Work all knit st of even rows as k1 below, incl the last one stated above.

Alternatively, you could knit the odd rows and work even rows by switching the knit st to purls, p1 below…

Made this same design two other times in a different yarn Dusty Teal Fisherman’s Cowl and Ronya’s Fisherman’s Cowl.

Used this same yarn in another project Jeny’s Poinsettia Breezy Scarf # 1 with great success.
