It did all come together somehow. Miracle.

A couple schematics would have been helpful with this design. Stephanie10 had the presence of mind to photograph her separate pieces: Horse.
I am indebted to her for that. I couldn’t have been successful making mine without her pictures and I’ve made a lot of yarn animals.

Stitch Caution:
Garter stitch. Pieces.
Keep track of rows.
RS vs WS isn’t important but knowing if one is on an even row or odd row is vital.

Directions issue:
The design page stated that the middle piece looks like a bearskin rug. It isn’t that shape. It is one long rectangle ~ 46” long (not 26”), with a 8” slit about 2/3 down and two 8” strips at the other end.

The design page directions, which are supposed to clarify assembly on how to sew the pieces together, are entirely misleading.
In my opinion, assemble using the directions from the book.

Used ~ 315 y for the stuffie itself and ~ 75 y of the rest of a skein for the mane and tail.

Elected to fashion a pr of ears from another pattern:
Huima ja Ässä, which is in Finnish. Used Google translate. Can share with anyone upon request. It is a free pattern.

Dedicated to Olivia:
I took several yarn animals to a children’s services center and the director gave me the red carpet treatment.
She said horses were her favorite, so I am making a few horses in her name for the center’s Holiday Toy Drive.

This book has several cute animal projects.
