Notes

Given as a baby gift to a new mom, daughter of a friend.

May 5 kal.
L 750 y.
~ 1800 size 6 beads.

Down a bunch of needle sizes to get gauge.

I was working on another shawl that took concentration, so it was nice to have the garter st section going on this one.
Once that was done, focused on this border.

Week One Challenge:
I didn’t win! Drat!

Oh, well. I’ll recover somehow.
Maybe buy some more yarn…
Yes, that’s what I did.
Felt much better.

Week Two Challenge:
Needed 40 % by the 18th. Had 50 % done.
Someone else won the prize.

I have three entries this week.

Border:
For the cdd, pattern instructs to sl 2, k1, psso.
I elected to sl 1, k2tog, psso.

Elected to work the border separately.
The pattern is written to knit it on as you go.
The directions were very clear, but I was struggling with it.
For me, it was faster and easier join the two sections upon completion of both.
The number of loops needed for the join match up 1:1.
Worked sl st crochet for the join, RS facing.
Beautiful result.

Beads:
On the garter st section, added beads every 6 stitches and every 8 rows from the WS.
Used ~ 150 - 200 beads there.

On the border, added beads to every yo when upon them on the WS.
Added a bead to the RS loop of every cdd.
That’s 35 beads per 14 r motif set.
1,680 beads on motif border!
After the kal was finished, I added triplet cluster of beads via sl st crochet along lower edge, spaced in line with the flow of the motifs. These are not in the photos.

Bobbles:
There’s lots of bobbles, but the version the designer uses is very easy.
Helpful hint:
Work loops of bobbles very loosely.
