The directions are very clear.

The edge stitch method to carry the two yarns is easy and very pretty. The garter st is a welcome, easy pattern. Can be productive even if tired. There’s a yo row / drop st row thrown in from time to time.

A little over guage with the US 5, so switched to US 4. Ms. Sarah gave that ‘swatch’ recommendation in the directions. Not often one can do that: change needles and keep going, but this design is forgiving that way. I’m still over guage, but gonna stick with the US 4.
