Notes

I’ve made this design four times, now.
Makes up very quickly and is a wonderful garment.
In the ecru, this one is very beautiful.

Made the main sections in no time. An evening and a day.
Did the sleeves and lower ribbing in another day.

Tip:
Before casting on any given section, pull out enough yarn to work the future seam. If one pulls out 5x the length of the expected seam, one will have plenty. Likewise, upon completing a garment section, don’t break yarn until you know you don’t need yarn at that corner for seaming.
Doing the above saves bulkiness at garment edges.

Tip:
Use a 40” length circular needle.
I’ve been using a 32” needle and it’s hard on the hands when working the ribbing bands.

Tip:
Pattern directs to pick up stitches of front band ribbing in a 1:1 ratio to the garment, causing the garment to pull up some. Picking up 10 loops for every 8 garment stitches, the garment will drape as desired. Ribbing naturally has a smaller guage.
(I worked 12 r band ribbing vs 16 per pattern because I didn’t have enough yarn for 16 r.)

Ribbing Tip:
When making a purl st after a knit stitch, give the yarn a tug after bringing the yarn to the front. If this step isn’t taken, too much yarn will be inbetw the two stitches and the ribbing will be too loose and stitches won’t look tidy.

My seaming favorite:
Stitch seams via sl st crochet, RS facing. Looks very nice that way, in my opinion.

Sleeves (shallow, shaped, 3/4 length) on this one:
CO 64 with sparkly yarn.
Join, placing marker at first st.
Stitch ribbing in the round 10 r as written.
Change to regular yarn and knit up one or two or three rows , as desired.
Begin sleeve cap shaping.
RS facing.
Three stitches before marker, bindoff three. Proceed to bindoff three more. 6 st bound off.
Work all remaining rows st st, in the flat.
Decr 3 st per row consistently as follows:
beg of every row, knit (or purl) 2 tog and then bindoff one.
end of every row, knit (or purl) 2 tog.
Work until there are 7 or so stitches left and bindoff all.
Stitch in set in sleeve, RS facing, sc loosely to armscye opening. The visible crocheted seam will lie flat and be beautiful upon washing.

The circumf of the modified sleeve cap will fit the armscye nicely. One can adjust the lower side seams of the main sections to accommodate the sleeve. One wants the two to fit together in a one to one ratio.

Lower Ribbing:
With sparkly yarn, picked up stitches in approx 1:1 ratio with main garment rows. Worked k2, p2 rib for 10 r, then bound off in rib patt.
