Notes

This is a simple yet classy and free design, thanks to Ms. JL, who has numerous incredible designs.

The recipient is so delighted with it, he’s going to get a trench coat to match his scarf!

Cast on 62 to get desired width with this yarn. Pattern is in multiples of k3 + p2 = 5. Added 1 st, ea side for finished edge: sl 1st st pwise yif. Always knit last st every row.

Note 1:
Next time I make this, in addition to the above, I’ll also add 2 st at R edge so both side edges are identical.
In other words:
cast on 1 + 2 + multiples of 5 as needed for width + 1.
R1:
K1, p2, •k3, p2, rpt from • acr to last st, k1.
R 2:
Sl st pwise yif, •k2, p3, rpt from • across to last 3 st, k3.

Note 2:
Use a needle one size smaller for cast on r and first two r’s of straight knitting. Use project needles for main section, then switch to smaller needles again for final two knit r’s and cast off. Doing this will minimize the ends from flaring out. The ends can be shaped by steaming, as well.

This yarn is classed as Aran. That’s a stretch. It’s more a light worsted, at best. Probably a DK in reality.

Ah, yes. Fiesta yarn. Where to begin.

For the color Obsidian (jet black), a great deal of excess dye comes off on your hands when winding the ball and when knitting. Big mess.

Some excess dye comes off onto the hands when knitting this color, but not as much as with Obsidian. Had to wash and rinse several times to get all excess dye out.

Dimensions:
Before washing: 7 1/2” x 54”
After washing: 7” x 65”

This color, Lava Rock, has a cool name, but the dye quality is not. In places where the skeins were tied are not dyed well, hense, scattered stitches are white. Consider it distressed.

When ordering from Fiesta, buyer beware. It takes an excruciatingly long time to get your order, if ever. Customer Service yields eternal runaround. If an order is cancelled, good luck getting any refund.

Had to file a complaint with credit card company to get results.

That said, the yarn can be very nice, if dyed properly and if you are fortunate enough to be graced with a completed order in your own lifetime.
