Notes

This design is eponymously named by the talented Ida Wirak Trettevik. Coincidentally, this design is a clever version of ‘The Ida Sweater’ similar to pricey ready to wear ones online. Thanks Ms. Ida!

The directions are very well written.
I hadn’t made a sweater in a long time and I really enjoyed making this one.

Gauge:
Faux in the round swatch
It is important to make a gauge swatch in the round.
It can be done worked flat.
Cast on enough stitches for a 5 - 6” swatch.
Knit one row.
Do not turn.
Move stitches back to the right needle.
Allowing plenty of slack behind the piece, knit the next row.
Keep going in this manner until a good 5-6” ht.
Cast off.
Measure gauge.
Wash the swatch as actual garment.
Measure gauge again.

my swatch:
stitches remained the same before and after washing.
rows shrank lengthwise a little: row count went from 15 r / 4” before washing to 17” / 4” after.
Compensated by knitting two more rows per 4” to achieve final desired length.

The Inca Tweed is a wonderful yarn but unfortunately, I didn’t notice the skeins I had were two different lots.
After washing, I could see the difference. Fortunately, the various sections look just fine as is. It’ll be a very nice sweater for someone.

One lot shrank and felted markedly. The other lot shrank some but retained shape and didn’t felt.

I’ll make up the rest of this yarn paying more attention.
Lesson learned.
