Notes

This is one of the best tortoise designs available.
The design is meticulously thought out.
Love the little toes. Ingenious. They’re fun and easy to make.

Ms. Ginny is very attentive to queries.

Don’t worry about all the pieces and seaming.
The pieces make up quickly.
Seaming is quick and easy also- simple whip stitches. One needn’t be good at sewing because stitches don’t show when attaching garter stitch and seed stitch pieces.

The designer states that she has a free version. I don’t see that from the link provided, however, the price of the pattern is very reasonable. The designer said she plans on getting the free link working.

Teensy Errata (pattern to be corrected by the designer):
Front Legs:
Pattern states:
R 20: Repeat Row 16
R 22: Repeat Row 19
Correction:
There isn’t a row 21.
Work r 20, then go directly to r 22.

Head:
R 17 yields too many stitches.
Pattern states:
r 17: K10, (m1, K1) x 9, Kfb, m1, K10 (39 stitches)
The above results in 41 stitches. The subsequent rows use 39.
Correction:
Omit the kfb.
R 16 has 29 stitches, so omitting the kfb works out.

R 27:
Should have k3 at the end of that row.

I wish dimensions or gauge were available. The designer said she’d try to provide that info.

Used a bulky yarn for carapace pieces.
Worsted and sport wt together for under side, head and legs.
Want to destash these yarns.
If one uses one type of yarn thru out, one would use under 300 yards total.

Crocheted the shell pillows together and crocheted the frill piece on as well with sc, CC yarn.

Made frill with slightly bigger needle to make up a little quicker. The 8 row repeat of the frill is easy to memorize. It’s not a big deal.

Used two oblong safety noses for the eyes instead of round eyes or embroidered eyes. (Forgot to stitch the nostrils.)
