Notes

This design is easy with very good directions and the cable patt is memorized quickly. Slipped stitches need to be moved from needle to needle so the loop is not twisted. Worked an additional row of ea color for rib areas because I wanted less yarn leftover.

Note: work beg and end rib rows in a needle one size smaller than main section. I used the same size and the rib sections are a bit bigger and don’t lay quite right. The pattern does not specify using different sizes for ea section.

This yarn is very nice, machine wash, but it may not be colorfast, depending on the color. Consider washing sk in advance to remove excess dye and avoid unexpected color changes in the finished item.

I made another scarf with color Wave, and a significant amount of excess dye came out in the wash water. The color changed from a solid bright blue to a faded heathered shade. Not necessarily bad, but it was unexpected.

For this project, I prewashed the skeins separately in vinegar and water. There wasn’t much excess dye in the wash water. Made a different scarf with color Sugar Plum and regular washing had no color issues.

Before washing the finished cowl, the fabric was stiff, but after washing, the stitches relaxed and fabric was drapey. Dimensions did not change after washing. Partial tumble dry, gentle, as instructed works out nicely.

I avoid colorwork designs, but don’t mind this one. The yarns don’t need to be cut upon each color change, merely carried up from row to row.
