Notes

The pattern imho lacks the mention of Ladderback Jacquard to make the long floats more manageable.
At least the pattern has a gusset thumb (the last glove pattern I knitted simply foresaw a straight tube for the thumb, which would have been uncomfortable as hell).

Also, the “Pew! Pew!” charts, which are an addon, are not possible to knit with these mittens, because the stitch count is totally different from those of the mittens themselves. The “pew” bubble is much too big to bring it on the back of a hand. No wonder you can´t find the “Pew! Pew!” version in any of the projects.

A shame. For the next pair, I will probably rewrite the charts so that they say “Pew! Pew!”

29.11.2024

Since my son really was like expressionless when I mentioned that there was also a “Pew! Pew!” version but it was not possible to incorporate into the existing pattern, I sat down and redesigned the bubbles so that they say “Pew! Pew!” ;-) I´m not that far into the pattern, I will have to frog a few rounds, but it´s not too many, so I will make my redesigned version.

09.12.2024

Since I would like to establish half fingers, I’m not too happy about the 55 sts stitch count, because that leaves me only 13,75 sts I can pick up for each finger.
I should have increased the stitch count, I was not happy about it when I started either.
It’s slim, with the 55 sts, but when I first tried on the mitt, I was relieved to see that it fits.

But I’d rather have 60 sts as I had for my computer mitts.

15.12.2024

Been thinking hard about the problem, how to spread the sts I need for each finger in the 55 sts.
Turns out, increasing by just one stitch makes calculating much easier. Because divided by four it’s 14 sts for each finger.

20.12.2024

7 rounds for the pinky, CO 3 sts between front & back

9 rounds for the ring finger before binding off, picked up 5 sts (2 ditch sts) on the corner to the pinky, casted on 5 sts betw front & back (2 ditch sts), 20 sts in total

Pinky: 14 sts + 3 sts
Ring & middle finger: 14 sts + 3 sts + 2 ditch sts (twice)
Index finger: 14 sts + 3 sts + 2 ditch sts

22.12.2024

5 rounds for the thumb

After the first glove:
36 grams left of the grey yarn = used 15 grams
88 grams left of the yellow = used 8 grams

Will have to keep in mind not to make the bindoff too tight for the fingers

26.12.2024

Second glove almost done, only the fingers to do.

Will have to reopen the grey part of the thumb of the left glove though, because it’s much too wide, I will have to decrease at least 3 sts.

28.12.2024

Decreased twice in two rounds for the thumb (with a non-decrease round in between), at the inside, now it’s perfect.
