Finally found the perfect yarn for this project - white acrylics with a bit of sparkle! ![ heart_eyes](https://style-cdn.ravelrycache.com/images/twemoji/1f60d.png)
Took the irisé yarn double, because I want a fairly big dragon.
I don’t like the wings of the original pattern, therefore he gets “real” dragon wings from the other pattern mentioned above.
I will probably change the legs too.
I took 8 mm safety eyes. Because my eyes are smaller than the recommended, I only made a chain of 5 for the eyelids. For the eyebrows, I only chained 7 sts.
For the mane, I only used 125 sts. It will even go around the tip of the tail a bit.
Since I didn’t have a wire brush for the cut-open loops on eyebrows and mane, I used one of our pet (cat) brushes which worked perfectly! ![ smile](https://style-cdn.ravelrycache.com/images/twemoji/1f604.png)
I am almost finished with the loop sts for the mane, but the loops are too short to match the picture I have in my head for the dragon, so will rip them open and try again. I used a breadth of three fingers worth for the second try, now I am happy with it.

I also opened a thread regarding the shaping of the legs.

I had to throw away the toes I had made using the “Dragon” tutorial, because with my yarn choice I couldn´t figure out where the stitches were I had to crochet into. Should I ever make the “Dragon” tutorial, I will have to use a yarn with better stitch definition.
The main reason I had to throw the fingers I had already made away was because they were blocking me since last summer.
Anyway, these tutorials - I think - will help me with figuring out how to make the legs, and, especially, the claws:
“How to make the dragon arms” by Sharon Ojala (from minute 8 on)
“Dragón bebé amigurumi - crochet” by Patrigurumis, (from minute 28, where she explains the arms)
The arms will have to be made from top down, in order to be able to make the claws.

Finished the front legs!
Hooray. That was a piece of work. At first, I built a model out of newspaper and masking tape, where I drew the (approximately correctly sized) lines and individual stitches on, so that I could see where the in- and decreases should be. And huzzah! The result came out exactly as I wanted it!!! I am so glad.
I didn´t know how to mirror the other front leg correctly, so I made this one up as I went. They look 95% the same, which is good enough for me.
Now, there are still the hind legs to design and crochet… and the wings… and the antlers… I wish it was finished already, I would like to start another crochet project, but I won´t allow it to myself until this dragon is finished.

After a long time neglecting this project because I was lacking several hours of undisturbed working on it, today I continued with crocheting the hind legs. Terrible thing is, I have to relearn all crochet skills I had obtained a few years ago. And the acrylic yarn held double really is the worst possible yarn choice, because stitch definition is really bad. But looks-wise, it is exactly what I want for this dragon, so I guess it will have to do.

Yesss!!! I made it! I designed the legs completely new!!! You can see it in the photo section. Finally, finally! One of my longest UFOs will finally be finished soon (I hope)!
This video about getting the bend in an arm or leg with short rows helped me immensely, but still I had to figure out how to make a more-than-90-degrees bend so that it looked good. Took me the whole day to crochet and make it up.

Since I know now how to crochet a bend into a tube, I changed the antlers into more natural looking antlers. It would have been better though to use a smaller hook, like 2.5 mm, because the holes in the fabric are a little bit too large for my taste.

I’ve looked at him long enough now and decided that he needs no wings. He is beautiful, with his antlers and all. I declare him finished.
