When my high-school bff asked me to make a gigantic rodent for her adorable three-year-old, well, I ordered the yarn immediately.

This pattern is fabulous. The capybara is enormous! Which is exactly as it should be. The instructions are clear.

The only modification I made was that I eliminated the short rows on the legs/feet. I was under a tight deadline to finish the project by then, and I just couldn’t figure out how to swing that easily on dpns. My problem, not the pattern’s. So I just made 15-round legs/feet (I think). It looked fine.

I used an entire bag of recycled fibre-fill, plus some more from a second bag. That’s how big this thing is!

I love it, and so does its tiny recipient.
