Notes

I didn’t expect this to fall into the category of “TV knitting”, but much to my surprise the lace pattern was actually very easy to follow, so I really enjoyed knitting this, and I love how this pullover turned out - will definately consider knitting another one.

I knit this holding two strands together - this results in heavier weight yarn (= different gauge) than what is recommended in the pattern, so I’m knitting a size M to get a fit matching a size XL. In addition to this I’m adjusting both body length, the sleeve width and the sleeve length.

Gauge in Super Merino Geelong:
24 sts = 15 cm
(Recommended gauge in the pattern using the recommended yarn: 30 sts = 15 cm)
Since my gauge is different from the recommended gauge I’m knitting a size M to obtain a size XL.

Body:
Knit on needles size 4.5 mm.
BO on shoulders/neck on front and back:
Ordinary BO on needles size 6.5 mm.

Sleeves:
Knit both sleeves simultaneously.
Knit on needles size 4.5 mm.
First attempt on knitting the sleeves made it obvious that the sleeves are quite narrow if knit according to pattern, so I decided to make them a bit wider to match the oversized look. Pattern says to cast on 37 sts for each sleeve - I cast on 45 sts instead.
Sleeve increases: Increased 2 sts on every 10th row a total of 10 times (= 65 sts) and knit until each sleeve measured 46 cm. Then did a JSSBO (bind off) on needles size 4.5 mm.

Washed front, back and sleeves and blocked the pieces quite heavily before sewing them together carefully making sure that the lace pattern matches up/lined up on each side of every seam (it’s just neater that way).

Collar:
Knit on needles size 4.0 mm.
On each side of the V-shaped front I picked up 58 sts (picked up 3 stitches on every 4 rows). On the back side of the neck I picked up 30 sts. = a total of 146 sts picked up.
Then I knit 7 rows of ribbing (k2, p2).
BO on collar: JSSBO on needles size 4.0 mm.

Yarn amounts used:
Back: 174.0 grams.
Front: 161.6 grams.
Sleeves and collar + sewing together: 117.2 grams
Total yarn amounts used for pullover: 452.8 grams.
Finished weight of pullover: 450.4 grams.
Swatch: 13.0 grams.
