Notes

Finished this 11th June 2015, but didn’t get around to making the tassels until June 2017… well, better late than never, right?

This is my second Camomille - here are my first:
Off white Camomille

Modifications:
Did the exact same modifications as on my Off White Camomille.
I prefer my shawls to cover a bit more of my lower back, so therefore I modified this to a more traditional triangular shaped shawl.
Didn’t crochet along the top edge.

Body
Started with a garter tab:
Cast on 2 stitches, knit 5 rows, pick up 2 stitches in garter ridges + pick up 2 in cast-on row = 6 stitches total.
Row 1 (WS): Knit
Row 2 (RS): K2, m1, k1, kfb, m1, k2 = 9 stitches
Row 3 (WS): knit
Row 4 (RS): K2, (pm), m1, k1, m1 (pm), k3 (cs), (pm), m1, k1, m1, (pm), k2
Row 5 (WS): knit
Row 6 (RS): K2, (sm), m1, k3, m1 (pm), k3 (cs), (pm), m1, k3, m1, (pm), k2
Row 7 (WS): knit
Repeat the method as described in row 6 and 7 until reaching desired number of stitches.
(pm=place marker, sm=slip marker, cs=center stitches, m1=make 1).

Stripe Pattern:
The stripe effect is obtained by alternating knitting with all three strands (Tussah Silk Lace + Blackhill + Super Kid Mohair) and only two strands (Tussah Silk Lace + Super Kid Mohair).

Border:
Same modifications as last time I knit this: To achieve a more evenly aligned edge I omitted the first row of the border pattern.

Border is a series of repeats each using up 6 stitches from the body of the shawl - I therefore continued the ‘Stripe Pattern’ until I had a total of 318 stitches (157+(3+m1)+157) = a total of 53 border repeats. To create symmetry I purposely aimed at an uneven number of repeats since I want the middle of the border to match up with the middle of a border repeat.

Used needles size 5.0 for the shawl and 4.5 for the border. The reason for changing needle size when starting the knit on border is that row gauge and stitch gauge is not the same, so going down in size will ensure that the border ends up laying nice and flat.
Used a needle size 5.5 for the bind off stitches on the border.

Like last time I chose to knit the border by knitting the YO-rows from the wrong side of the shawl (when starting the border you have the the right side of the shawl is facing your body, holding the shawl in your left hand ready to start knitting the very first shawl stitch together with the border).
(Cast on 9 stitches for the border, next row knit 8 stitches + k1tbl+1/shawl.)

Tassels:
I used this tutorial for making the tassels - it’s in Danish, but the pictures do the most of the talking :-)
There’s another great one here (in english)
The 3 stitch icords were knit on needles size 3.5 mm. I did 26 rows.

I made the tassels extra big - took a cardboard piece measuring 8 x 11 cm, wrapped the yarn around the 11 cm length and did 65 full loops.

Yarn amounts used:
I washed the Blackhill yarn before knitting to get rid of spinning oils etc. Yarn weights are after washing.

Body:
Tussah Silk Lace: 69.3 grams
Blackhill: 45.8 grams
Super Kid Mohair: 33.2 grams

Border:
Tussah Silk Lace: 21.6 grams
Blackhill: 25.8 grams
Super Kid Mohair: 8.8 grams

Tassels:
Tussah Silk Lace: 5.8 grams
Blackhill: 6.9 grams
Super Kid Mohair: 2.4 grams

Yarn used - total:
Tussah Silk Lace: 96.7 grams
Blackhill: 78,5 grams
Super Kid Mohair: 44.4 grams

Note to self - border:
sl1 (wyif), k3, (yo, k2tog… and so on…
