I did find two breaks within the skein: one was a total break and one was only one of the plies. They were clearly knotted so I could decide what to do before I got to them.

When both plies were broken, I went ahead and untied the knot, carried both yarns for a few stitches and pressed on. When the knot was in one ply, I ignored it. Both seem fairly well hidden. I don’t know if every knitter will feel this way.
