2/14/15 I’m calling this finished even though I still have to line it. I had to frog the original sides because I had made them rectangular. They folded in and prevented the bag from closing on top because I used heavy weight yarn. I added a crocheted loop and ball to close.

2/9/15 I am basically done with the body of the bag, though I may embellish more. In the pics I have a stitch marker holding it closed. I did not plan ahead, so I need to figure out what type of closure and handles/strap to use. Although it has the appearance of flaps over a brown bag, it is actually all one flat piece on mesh. Next time I will definitely use a flap - so much easier to button closed!

2/2/15 In the face of winter storms, what’s a girl to do? Download e-books from Prudence Mapstone of course! I got Bullions…, Spirals…, Falling Leaves and Never Too Many Handbags. Wheee!

I thought the use of mesh for support of handbags was genius, but I’m not paying $17 for the nicest one pictured. I had 10.5” x 13.5” plastic mesh in stock, so I got started the next day (2/1/15).

PM recommended textured yarns to cover the edges well, so I am using brown mohair there. I started stitches through the mesh in a straight line then remembered this is freeform! I began to use a wonderful, soft fuzzy yarn below that by chaining through the mesh, but that proved to be a major pain. I knit a large panel of the mohair to cover the bottom.

I am now in the process of adding some previously made motifs and creating new flowers. And since rpl crocheted cord is my new favorite thing, I’m trailing that around the bag. Sure beats crocheting through mesh with a #2 steel hook.
