Molly loved her cape so much that I decided to make her a matching bag. This time I made a plain body with a crocheted mesh flap. I then attached some motifs and filled in the rest crocheting directly on to the mesh. I loved doing it this way - no “jigsaw puzzle” to fit together.
Almost done. I just need to add a felt lining (as in ff-101, thank you Melba Melbav ) after doing some bead work. Then put it together with the gusset/shoulder strap.
The purple bullion circles turned out very blue in the pics, even when I moved outdoors. Afterwards I happened to look at tips thread and it opened exactly to a solution! Awesome luck :) So when I take pics of the completed bag I will put something yellow in the pic as advised. I’m anxious to see how it works out…

Done! I took the pic on brown paper, then yellow blocking mat (which is actually a child’s playroom floor mat = cheaper). The color does look more true purple (bullion circles) but that’s an eerie glow to the pic. I then tried reducing saturation in the side view pic & that seems to work well. I also did that for the shot where I hung the bag in front of the white shower curtain.
I am not happy with the shoulder strap. It seems too wide and utilitarian for this bag. The bottom pic is actually a new bag I started that shows the mesh base before freeform work.
