As soon as I saw the prize (Prudence Mapstone scrumble) posted in the pieces of eight cal I decided to imitate it, knowing we couldn’t all win! I will only use what I have in my stash right now. Of course now I’m wondering why I didn’t think of this before with all the wonderful scrumbles PM has posted! I am pretending to be in her class since I have never been so lucky :)

I made my first attempt at the black circle too large. But I will keep all my attempts to add onto in different ways. Who knows, I may even get an FO out of it!

Today I finished through KC 4. It is hard to keep the angles the same. I also see what a difference the colors make. Hers is so much richer looking.

I found a picture of this scrumble on her website yesterday. It is the one that is “upside-down” to what I have been doing. The colors also look different. In particular the square next to black grid looks green in the first shot and steely gray in the second.

Knowing I wouldn’t have anything close to her variegated yarn, I combined several colors in my bullions on the left. On the right I used each of the colors separately, which of course isn’t true to the original.

Finished! As I was nearing the end, I realized I should have asked Prudence for permission first. It is a work of art that I tried to match. ugh. I just sent her a message & am awaiting her verdict…

The shape is distorted and colors a little off, but overall I am pleased with how it turned out. Next I will have to make scrumbles “in the style of PM” to complete a project.
