#6 Shawl of 2014

7/31: Busy summer. Finally posted pics. Definitely would knit this pattern again! The results are gorgeous!

7/2:** Finally finished! I love my new border edging design change with the Eucool yarn. Bind off with Jen’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind off using US10 needles.

Unblocked: Forgot to measure!
Blocked: 68 in (w) x 30 in (h)

6/30: Ran out of the alpaca yarn after finishing Chart 4 row 12. Since, I only have two of the 4 skeins of this one-of-hand-dyed yarn, improvised and will finish knitting the last 6 rows before binding off with the Eucool yarn (double the DK weight yarn to get a worsted weight). The Eucool yarn mint green shade is similar to the greens found in the Macedo’s Mini Acre.

6/1: Finally buckling down to learn how to read charts. Using worsted, instead of fingering weight yarn.

Personally, I love to support local, small business as much as possible. The Macedo’s Mini Acre Alpaca yarn is hand-dyed in batches of 4 by one of the owners of a California alpaca rancher. Maureen uses plants from her garden to make the dyes. This is the third time I have knitted with Maureen’s soft, yummy yarn.
