Xmas 2013 #7 gift
1/9/2014: What do you get a gifted knitter for Christmas who can knit anything and everything better than you? When I saw Kris’ pattern early last month she was my lifesaver! But to tell you the truth she has generously given out so many beautiful shawl, which I have knitted a couple before the gift knitting began, that this was my sign that I had to knit this and give it to Maylene for her Christmas gift.
It checked off all the right boxes, a cowl because Maylene rides a scooter, lace because she like knitting it and loves shawls, hot pink/fuschia because she is as loud and as bold as the color and hand-dyed angora merino because she is unique and loves fluffy, soft animals.
The biggest compliment is that Maylene knitted a Bridger Cowl for someone else because of how much she loved her Xmas gift.
12/12: Followed the well written pattern and had no issues. Took about two TV watching evenings to knit. It’s very cool how it started of with the lace at CO4 and eventually you join it in the round to start the purling then the knitting in the round to knit the cowl completed. No seams!! See the last photo, shows how the lace is connected and the body of the cowl is connected with it.
This would be a great knit group project after you finish knitting the lace portion. You can socialize and not worry about miscounting because you or either purling or knitting.
I ended up at row 66 to get 11”.
Unblocked: 9.75” (w) x 11.5” (h). I loved how the lace turned out after wet blocking. Blocked: pretty much the same as unblocked.
Definitely, I would knit this again for gifts and for me if I ever find the time. Thanks again, Kris, for making me look so good! : )
