Notes

#4 Shawl, 2014

4/26: This is the 2nd time I have knitted this wonderful, easy-to-remember lace flower bud stitch pattern. First time was for my now SIL in 2012. This time it’s for a now dear, helpful friend as a “Thank you.” Again, I knitted this during night time TV watching so not taxing, but not boring.

This was the last skein of 5 that I purchased in 2011 of this hand-dyed variegated purple yarn. Wanted to use as much of this last skein up, which I did - Had about 4 yards, or 12 feet, left after BO (sts count was 291) after making a few modifications to this pattern:

  1. 10 repeats, instead of 8
  2. For chart 3, I knitted row 13 twice to use up the skein
  3. For BO, this time I used a US10, instead of US9, needle. It made a big difference from last time. My points are longer (because I did knit row 13 twice) and it was easier to stretch each point because they each had more give.

My Results

Unblocked: 44 in x 18 in
Gently blocked: 62 in x 23 in

Really liked how the flower buds turned out. Perfect for my friend who is stylish girly. Great for her to wear it as a layer on plane flights or in her air conditioned office.

I still have my Malabrigo DK to knit one for me, but my next project is to knit Sea Leaves for MadMay, so my Budding Shawlette is on the back burner to knit some day soon! = )
