9/29: I received this yarn and pattern from one of my LYS, Fashion-knit, about a week and a half ago to knit this so that they can display this with their selection of Feederbrook Farm yarn.
The designer states the need to knit this with 60 in circular needles. I don’t have that in my Addi Turbo set or anyone else who has 60 in circulars, but I do have a 40 in cable. So wish me luck.
10/13: After finding out the hard way (I COed and knitted the first round of the chart) I had an old version of the pattern from the designer and receiving from her the correct version (note: be sure you have a 15 sts infinity circle chart.), I followed the pattern and did a 315 sts knit cast-on on my 40 in Addis. Had plenty of room on my needles for these sts. To make my twist, I watched www.youtube.com/watch?v=zj4xi41AV_g since a moebius cast-on wouldn’t work because of the infinity design.
So far, after knitting the infinity design, I knitted 14 rows of the self-stripping yarn (see pic 5-6). The color combo is very woodsy, earthly looking to me.
10/14: As instructed, I knitted the self-stripping yarn to the very end which landed me almost 41 rows. I was 15 sts short of starting the 41 sts row (row 40, 300th stitch to be exact). Started knitting Sangria and followed the last 7 rows of the pattern instruction (see pic 4).
10/15: There wasn’t a particular bind-off called out on this pattern so I used Jenn’s Stretchy Bind-off for the 315 sts. This was tedious; took me 2 hrs.
I love this color combination. It was the first time I ever knitted with self-stripping yarn so it interested me to knit the almost 41 rows to see how the different colors came out.
Definitely have to soak this to block this. Because this is knitted in-the-round and the infinity ring section is knitted first, this thing curled up like curling ribbon when knitting. It’s pinned. Will post pictures tomorrow.
10/16: Pics are posted. Wet blocking is a must. Did I mentioned that I love, love the self-stripping. Had about 100 yds of Sangria left; used a lot during the stretchy bind-off.
This pattern is for an advance Beginner since the casting on and performing the twist can be intimidating. The counting and recounting to be sure you have those 315 sts! Once you pass this hump and knit the infinity section, the rest is just knit, knit, knit! I had the TV on and caught up with my On Demand. It took about 35 hrs, incl 2 hrs binding off! But it should be much shorter if you have the correct pattern to begin with.
