#12 Shawl, 2014
Note: 1/4/2015: A couple of these photos are up on Susan’s pattern page. I’m deeply honored.
12/2/15: Took the first 4 photos New Year’s Day morning with just natural light in the room.
12/31: This is my final shawl for 12 Shawls of 2014!!!! Literally, speed knitted in the last 48 hrs, weaved in ends, wet blocked, took photo, wrote this project review and posted last photo at the bottom of this page 15 minutes before New Year’s Day!
I already knitted Susan’s pattern using bulky Noro for Shawl #10. See: Makes Me Happy and really loved the Noro self-striping results. I wanted to knit her pattern again using a worsted weight.
Purchased the 3 skeins of Noro Silk Garden (see photo #6) at one of my favorite SF Bay Area LYS during American Express’ Shop Small Business Saturday on 12/29. DH picked this shade.
My Modifications
- Went up to 1 needle size (US 10.75 (or 7.0 mm) Addi Lace interchangeable)
- Knitted till I ran out of yarn! Knitted 14 repeats, Ended at Row 12 before following Susan’s RS Bind-off (purlwise).
My Results
Unblocked
51 in (w - measured from left tip to right tip inner width) x 13 in (h - measured in the middle from inner middle down to the outer corner 90 degree angle)
Blocked (measuring from the same pts as in the unblocked)
70 in (w) x 18 in (h)
Would I knit this for a 3rd time?
YES, most definitely!! Next time, it would be using fingering and probably Noro again.
