#5 Shawl, 2014

5/25: Finished BO using Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off Friday night, 5/23. Took me over 2+ hrs to bind off 430 stitches. I used a US8 to be sure I had enough give for the points when it came time to block. Had about 30 yards left.

Blocked, Yesterday, 5/24:

Unblocked: 58 in x 15 in
Gently Blocked: 72 in x 15 in (Got a little sidetracked. I let it soaked in the hair shampoo bath for almost 2 hrs before I put it in a lingerie netted bag and into a 18 min cold/cold spin rinse cycle in my front loader to get rid of the excess water)

The true colors of the TOSH Jade are the outside pictures. More of a rich green with yellow undertones.

Next time, I want to knit this pattern with only Chart A 3 times so the whole thing will be this lacy leave pattern. I really love how this semi-solid color yarn and pattern made a perfect combination. I have a TOSH Sock, Magnolia Leaf skein that would make a fiery Fall color scarf wrap.

5/23: Just need to bind off and block! Not the designer fault, I had a really hard time with the last 4 rows. I just couldn’t count for some reason and I was using markers.

I knitted the last 4 3 times! First two times, I was off by 2 stitches then 4 stitches! I literally ripped the stitches the second time around. This has never happened to me before. I had no issues with repeating Chart A twice and pretty much had Chart B in the bag until Row 14.

As you can see, I have leftover yarn so I am definitely going to bind off with Jen’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off as recommended by Sue.

5/4: This is coming along nicely. I am at Chart A and just finished Row17. I’m happy I made the decision to knit the body in stockinette, instead of garter, stitch. It really shows the variegation of the yarn. And, of course, TOSH Merino is soft to the touch to knit. So far, it’s an easy knit and I’m using stitch markers to keep me sane with the lace pattern repeat counts. = )

5/1: Has this Madelinetosh in my stash for awhile. Bought it with no particular project in mind because I was so drawn to this color and the name - Jade. I’ve had this pattern in my queue for a few years and have been looking for the right yarn to inspire me to knit this. Put 2 and 2 together. I was about to start knitting this last month after I finished knitting Frisson until my friend Maylene told me about MadMay and that I should join. So I waited till today for this to be my MadMay kick off.
